Our calf Violet

Hello all!

The big day has finally arrived!! We received the information about our calf! In case you haven’t heard, in the beginning of the year, I adopted a calf on behalf of our class. We waited patiently to learn who our calf would be and yesterday that information arrived. Please check Class Story to see pics and information.
I’m messaging because I am sending home a fun homework sheet for you and your child to complete together. It is a comparison between babies and calves. Please take some time and help your child complete the worksheet. The people side will be completed at home and we will complete the cow side at school.
Thank you so much for your help!

Wildcat Fun Run update

Dear parents,

Our class is having a great time learning all about how to solve problems using character! Make sure to check in with your student today to see what they’ve been learning through MindSpark Mystery Lab!

I wanted to give you an update on our class’s progress! Our class has reached $410 on our Pledge O Meter. We think we can make it even further to help our school!

Will you help us by reaching out to one or two more sponsors tonight?

If you haven’t yet registered your student on funrun.com, don’t worry, there’s still time to do it! Plus, once you’re registered, you’ll find lots of fun, easy ways to reach out to sponsors like our Easy Emailer, Facebook Share button, or even the Student Star Video!

Thank you for your support of our school!

Let me know if you have questions!

-Ms. Almanzo

P.S. The EASIEST way to ask for pledges is simply to click the “Share on Facebook” button on your student’s pledge page. On average, sharing a pledge on Facebook increases total pledges by almost $50 with a single click!

Wildcat Fun Run

Parents,

Our class is having a blast preparing for the St. Stan’s Wildcat Fun Run coming up soon! We’ve also begun to learn how to solve problems using character through Boosterthon’s character theme, MindSpark Mystery Lab. While they’re teaming up with the MindSpark Kids to solve mysteries, your students will learn five 21st-century character traits that will help strengthen themselves and our world. Make sure to ask your students what they’ve learned each day, and together you can watch the story unfold on funrun.com!

Remember, we need your help connecting to sponsors who can make a pledge to help our school! Please make sure all pledges for the St. Stan’s Wildcat Fun Run are entered on funrun.com. The more pledges we get, the more incentives our class earns on our Pledge-O-Meter.

Thank you for your generosity and support of our school. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Have a great day!

P.S. Make sure to register your child on funrun.com. Use our school registration code: 798871

Homework Updates

Spelling in 4th grade is a bit different than what the students may have experienced in the past.  The program being used is called Words their Way.  The program focuses on certain patterns necessary for students this age.  The students will learn silent letters within a word, prefixes and suffixes, -ed endings, and much more.  Please be on the look out for the sorts that come home.  A bingo sheet will be attached and the students are required to practice the words each night using one activity from the sheet.

Thank you!

2nd Step

Today the 4th grade students began work with the 2nd Step program.  This is a Social Emotional program that aids students in dealing with tricky emotions.  The students will watch videos and have safe and positive conversations.  The 4th graders will also do activities that allow them to practice the skills they have learned in the lessons.

Snack!

Hello parents!

I want to let everyone know that I have decided to add a short snack time to our morning. The kiddos often say that they are hungry and I think having a quick healthy snack may help them to stay focused. It will be a working snack, meaning that we will continue our day as usual while they have a chance to eat.  I hope this helps with concentration!

Ms. Almanzo’s 4th Grade Class

Welcome to 4th Grade!  Last year I was a 2nd grade teacher.  This year I am teaching 4th grade!  I am so excited for the opportunity and cannot wait to see what the year holds.  The most exciting thing is that this is my second time with this class.  I had this group of kiddos when they were in 2nd grade.  Now I have them again in 4th.  This is quite an unique opportunity because we have already developed a rapport and certain expectations have already been set.  While we will have to get to know each other a bit again, I am thrilled to have us all back together.
